The character Blade was created in 1973 for Marvel Comics by writer Marv Wolfman and artist Gene Colan and was a supporting character in the 1970s comic Tomb of Dracula. The 1998 movie Blade featured some of the characters of the comic book and starred Wesley Snipes; two sequels have followed so far.
Blade has all the strengths of a vampire, and none of their weaknesses. He has at times referred to himself as a dhampir, but this is not strictly true. He does, however, greatly resemble the creatures he hunts.
He can see in the dark, he is greatly stronger than a normal human being, he has faster reflexes and super-human reaction times, he has a regenerative healing factor, he can "smell" supernatural creatures of all kinds, and he is immune to being turned into a full vampire via a vampire's bite.

Beyond his obvious vampiric abilities, Blade also seems to be something of a savant in the field of weaponry. Blade has mastered the use of every single type of weapon known to man, and can adapt new weaponry to his growing repetoire in mere minutes. It is unknown if this is because he is more than human, or if he would have possessed this ability regardless.
Blade is also a professional-quality jazz trumpeter.

Blade
Blade is a 1998 vampire movie adapted from a comic book. It stars Wesley Snipes (as Blade) and Kris Kristofferson (as Abraham Whistler). It was directed by Stephen Norrington. Snipes plays the character of Blade, a half-man, half-vampire superhero vampire hunter who becomes the protector of humans against the vampires.
Blade grows up to become a vampire hunter, swearing vengeance on the creatures that killed his mother. He teams up with a man called Whistler, a retired vampire hunter and weapons expert.
Blade II
Blade II is a 2002 vampire action movie starring Wesley Snipes and Kris Kristofferson. It was directed by Guillermo del Toro.
Blade (played by Snipes) must decide whether to join with the vampires, his sworn enemies, in order to combat an even more fearsome enemy: the Reapers, a strain of mutant vampires with insatiable bloodlust and the ability feed on both humans and vampires. The Reapers have a sickly appearance resembling that of Count Orlock from Nosferatu and leech-like jaws. The movie introduces new characters including a new sidekick (Scud) and a group of Blade-hunting vampires called the Bloodpack. Many people including critics have said that the sequel is superior to the original, a rare exception to the "inferior sequels" trend.
Blade: Trinity
Blade: Trinity is a 2004 film, directed by David S. Goyer, who also wrote the screenplays to the first two Blade movies. It is the third film in the Blade trilogy, following on from Blade and Blade II.
The title alludes to the trinity formed between Blade, Hannibal King, and Abigail Whistler in the movie.
It was originally expected that Guillermo del Toro, who directed Blade II, would direct. He passed on the project, however, to work on Hellboy.
